Lens :

Here, football is the sport king and a whole town, a whole region are stirred by "their" club, the Racing... And it was not chance that the town of Lens was accepted as a World Cup 1998 site.

Racing Club de Lens (RCL) :

The club was created in 1906 and obtained its first title - Artois champion - in 1926. And Lens, in turn, was in a whirl of enthusiasm for a sport which had opted for professionalism. In 1934, the club became professionnal and was supported by the powerful Mining Company in Lens.

In 1937, Lens rose to the Division 1 and remained at a high level until 1968. Then, it was the dark years, of which Lens went out stronger in 1973 and climbed up to the summits again with the European cup notably.

In 1998, Lens became France champion and in 1999 won the "Coupe de la Ligue".

Bollaert stadium :

With its English character and its 42 000 seats, it is also one of the Lens prides. In 1932, the Lens Mining Company hired 180 minors to build its sports area. At the disposal of the Racing Club de Lens in 1934, the stadium, two years later, was called Félix Bollaert (a mining engineer) when he died.
